Mount Vernon Nazarene University: Life Changing

Graduate Education

Welcome!

The Department of Graduate Education at Mount Vernon Nazarene University offers programs of study to meet the unique needs of educators and prospective educators. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to developing teachers who exemplify compassion, competence, and commitment in their professional practice.

Graduate education programs at Mount Vernon Nazarene University are offered through a cohort-based adult education framework. The Department of Graduate Education is organized into three program areas: the Professional Educator License Program, the Intervention Specialist Program, and the Curriculum and Instruction Program.

Through our Professional Education License (PEL) program, we prepare teacher education candidates for initial licenses in Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, Adolescent and Young Adult, and Multi-Age Education.

The Intervention Specialist Program allows teachers to pursue additional licensure to serve students with mild/moderate disabilities.

Advanced coursework in the Curriculum and Instruction program of studies is designed for licensed teachers who want to deepen their practice and specialization.

We continually update our graduate education programs in accordance with Ohio’s Standards for Teachers, requirements of Ohio Department of Education and standards of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). image

Teacher education candidates at MVNU are challenged academically and spiritually to integrate their faith with learning and service to Preschool through Grade12 learners. We invite you to consider MVNU for your graduate study!

In Christ,
