The Need for Nurses
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a need for 794,000 newly licensed nurses in the United States by 2008, a 22% increase above the average growth of all other occupations. Two-fifths of Ohio's "baby-boomers" will be retiring by 2010, while approximately one in seven new jobs for Ohioans will be in health care. The health care sector represents a stable workforce need, independent of fluctuations in the economy that largely determine other occupations.
Major: Bachelor of Science with a Nursing Major
The four-year nursing program includes one year of pre-nursing courses. Students should apply for admission to the nursing program during the spring of their pre-nursing year.
The School of Nursing and Health Sciences is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
