Program Schedule

Program Features
  • New! 5-week course modules with each session being 3 hours in length.
  • All courses will be taught on a coordinated schedule that will cover the entire curriculum each year (each course earning 1 MEU - Ministerial Education Unit).
  • Courses will be taught using video conferencing with MVNU as the technical hub and teachers located in rotating sites.
  • There is potential for video-conferencing to students in remote locations.
  • Those who complete the program will receive the CMP Certificate that verifies that they have graduated from the Course of Study of the Church of the Nazarene. (With the understanding that they will need to complete the Field Experience on their own District.)
Academic Regulations
  • Certificate requires completing all the courses described in the handbook; MVNU will accept half of the total number of courses (13 courses) as transfer from another program approved by the International Course of Study Advisory Committee of the Church of the Nazarene.
  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00.
  • Class attendance required. No more than three absences per course are permitted.
  • Transfer of credit to a degree program at Mount Vernon Nazarene University will be governed by the admission policies and requirements stated in the undergraduate catalog.
  • Those who complete the program will be able to migrate their work into the Associate of Science in Christian Ministry (that will be rolled out shortly) with the use of a portfolio. Similar arrangements may also be possible with the proposed degree completion option. (This could require payment of an additional fee that is yet to be determined. Students are urged to keep a portfolio of all class assignments and exams.)
Admission to the program and registration for classes
  • There are no admission requirements for the CMP program; however, if MVNU credit is desired, a high school diploma or GED must accompany registration.
  • Complete the registration form for Session 3 and submit it to the Graduate and Professional Studies office to secure a seat in the course.
  • View new CMP 2011 Calendar.
