BA in Visual Art
As a visual art major pursuing a Bachelor of Arts, you will achieve a comprehensive education in studio art and art history. The academic course catalog outlines the studio and art history requirements.
During your first two years at MVNU, you will complete the foundation program including introductory studio and art history courses.
In your junior and senior year, you will have the opportunity to focus more intently in a specific area of concentration such as, but not limited to:
- Painting
- Drawing
- Sculpture
- Printmaking
- Ceramics
- Photography
- Multimedia
You will receive an individual studio space during your senior year to produce work for your senior exhibition graduation requirement. One-on-one instruction from award winning professional art faculty during Senior Project, along with intensive studio group critiques, help prepare you not only for your senior exhibition in MVNU’s professional gallery but also for graduate school application.
MVNU art students have successfully continued on to graduate school with scholarship.
BA in Visual Art and Graphic DesignSome students choose to pursue a vigorous but satisfying double major in visual art and graphic design. This intensive program includes art, design, illustration, and computer design courses along with two Senior Project exhibitions. Choosing this path prepares a student not only for graduate school possibilities but also for the workforce in many venues.
BA in Art EducationStudents pursuing a teaching career for grades K-12 complete most of the same degree requirements as a BA in Visual Art with the exception of Senior Project and exhibition, which is optional. Along with the art requirements, students complete the education curriculum implemented by the state of Ohio and administered by our excellent education faculty. We have an outstanding record of job placement for our art education students.
Graphic Design MinorStudents not majoring in a BA in Graphic Design may pursue a minor in graphic design.
