MVNU has a vibrant student life that includes over 50 student-run clubs and organizations, small group Bible studies, a variety of campus events, concerts, resident hall challenges, an active Student Government Association, community service projects, intramural athletics, and so much more. There’s a way for everyone to be involved.

FLUX Club organizes service projects such as helping the City of Mount Vernon with painting projects from sidewalk ramp wheelchair symbols to nativity sculpture painting. FLUX Club also hosts fundraiser parties for field trips.

KASHYYYK: Graphic Design Club (named after a former location for graphic design course work on the MVNU network) provides a context in which graphic design students can get together outside of class, sometimes to watch a movie, make cards, or work on t-shirts. They also co-sponsor the annual art and design picnic.

The FLUX Club partners with the Art Department to provide field trips to local and interstate art exhibitions at various galleries and museums. Recent trips have included Columbus, Pittsburgh, Toledo, Chicago, and Cincinnati -- all ranging from traditional exhibitions to conceptual and performance art.

Biennially, the Art Department leads a study abroad experience in Italy during the January term. Two classes, Art in the Western World and Art and Architecture in Historical Italy, as well as independent studies, are available for credit during the travel course.

Visits to Rome, Florence, Venice, Pompeii, Milan, Assisi, and various smaller towns provide both the artistic and the spiritual backdrop for intensive study of Greco Roman art and the Christian influence upon the arts historically.
