Parent & Family Services
We serve a working God who created His children to work (Genesis 1:1, 2:15). He gives His children different gifts and abilities so that they may serve Him in many ways. These gifts are given, not for their benefit alone, but for the common good of the Body of Christ (Romans 12:4-8; I Corinthians 12:4-7). In addition, they are commissioned by Christ to be "salt and light" to the world, to help attract people to the Savior (Matthew 5:13-16).
Their earnings are meant to be shared with those in need (Ephesians 4:28). Christians are to work hard for other people, as if they are working for the Lord Himself (Ephesians 6:5-8, Colossians 3:23, 24). Career Services exists to help prepare Christian students to discover their God-given strengths, use them in their work and to become salt and light for Christ in the workplace.
Career development is a lifelong process. It involves an understanding of yourself in terms of your values, interests and abilities and an understanding of the world of work in terms of the type of work available. A further step includes the process of knowing how to launch an effective job search campaign (writing a résumé, interviewing skills, locating and contacting employers). We encourage you to include our center as part of your educational program at MVNU.
