Prior Learning Credit

MVNU recognizes the diverse backgrounds in our student population and places great value on their personal and professional experiences. We welcome students who have experienced qualified learning opportunities outside of the classroom and award prior learning credit for several forms of non-traditional education, including:

  • seminars
  • military service
  • on-the-job training
  • standardized exams
  • professional licensure
  • corporate and/or professional training
  • specific government and industry experience
  • other activities with credible associations and agencies

Undergraduate GPS programs that qualify for submission of prior learning credit include:

  • Associate of Applied Science-Business
  • Bachelor of Business Administration
  • Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education
  • Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Administration
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing)
  • Bachelor of Social Work

Your Enrollment Specialist will be able to assist you with your request for evaluation of prior learning credit as part of the admissions process. Submissions for prior learning credit must include one or more of the following forms of supporting documentation:

  • transcripts
  • certificates
  • course syllabi
  • letters from supervisors
  • company training histories

American Council on Education (ACE) approved courses and training documentation, as well as military Joint Service Transcripts, may also be submitted. Up to 40 credits for prior learning may be awarded.

Transfer credit from one of our educational partners or from other accredited colleges and universities may also be applied toward your chosen GPS degree program.
