Self-Study Goals and Guiding Principles
While affirming through the Self-Study that Mount Vernon Nazarene University fulfills all criteria for continuing accreditation set forth by The Higher Learning Commission, the following goals will guide the self-study process.
Mount Vernon Nazarene University will conduct an authentic self-study which will:

Affirm the strengths and accomplishments of the institution through documentation and evaluation;

Respond systematically and contextually to identified challenges and opportunities through development of strategic plans of action;

Cultivate a culture of discovery and imagination in which we celebrate in, and learn from, our self-study processes and outcomes;

Develop an environment and intentional opportunities conducive to the emergence of institutional leadership;

Achieve continuing accreditation through The Higher Learning Commission, a Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools;

Build on the self-study process, using it as a guide for continuous institutional improvement; and
-
Position Mount Vernon Nazarene University as an academic community of faith shaping Christ-like leaders for lifelong service and global impact.
Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s self-study process will be guided by the following key principles:

Excellence: MVNU will be intentionally excellent in the design, the facilitation, the production and the application of our self-study through the wise stewardship of resources, both human and material, and the application of a Christ-like work ethic.

Integrity: Conduct an honest and thorough evaluation of the institution, adhering to the highest standards of research and reporting ethics.

Transparency: Create systems of full disclosure for information sharing and feedback among the various university constituencies.

Inclusiveness: Invite and engage all stakeholders in the self-study process.

Holism: Ensure the self-study product reflects the entire institution.
