The HLC Steering Committee will direct the self-study process. Criterion committee chairs, as well as key institutional individuals comprise the HLC Steering Committee. The vice president for academic affairs and the self-study coordinator serve as co-chairs. The HLC Steering Committee is responsible for and empowered to:
Implement the President’s charge to the HLC Steering Committee.
Participate fully in the committee meetings in a collaborative, congenial, insightful, engaging, and objective manner.
Assist with the development of the mission statement.
Assist with setting the goals that will guide the self-study process.
Assist with the development of the self-study design.
Assure that the self-study fits the distinctive nature of Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
Assure that the self-study evaluates the whole institution.
Oversee the implementation of the self-study process.
Adhere to all schedules and timetables for completion as determined by the HLC Steering Committee and Self-study Coordinator.
Adhere to the highest standards of research and reporting ethics.
Review and approve final drafts of reports from criterion committee chairpersons.
Approve and endorse the final self-study report.
Provide assistance in selecting the members of the HLC Evaluation Team.
