MVNU invites community to explore, celebrate Hispanic heritage

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio --
For the fifth year, Mount Vernon Nazarene University will hold Festival Latino, a celebration of Hispanic heritage observed nationwide.

The public is invited to enjoy authentic Hispanic food, live music by Galen and join MVNU in celebrating a rich and beautiful heritage on Thursday, Oct. 1, outside the Prince Student Union from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.--all for free.

Galen, the live music featured at this year's festival, is a world renowned master jazz flutist. An arranger, composer, director, educator and writer from Montclair, N.J., he has performed for over 30 years around the world. He has recorded with many world-famous artists and delivers intellectually stimulating lectures and powerful jazz performances.

An annual celebration, Festival Latino is observed nationwide during Latino Heritage Month from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. The festival, which features events for the whole family, will include authentic Hispanic food and live music, and will showcase information booths on various MVNU clubs, departments, organizations and local churches; along with an inflatable Moonbounce, dunk tank and other games provided for children, and fun activities planned for teens and students as well.
