MVNU women's chorus and Chamber Winds combine for concert

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Treble Singers, a women's choir, will join MVNU Chamber Winds to perform a spring concert on Tuesday, May 10, at 8 p.m. in Thorne Performance Hall, located within the R.R. Hodges Chapel and Fine Arts Center.
This event is free and open to the public.
These two ensembles will collaborate to produce a condensed version of their sacred concert, which has been presented at seven church venues in Ohio and West Virginia on tour this spring. The sacred choral selections include works by a variety of choral composers including Randall Thompson, Moses Hogan and Olive Duncan, as well a beloved sacred titles such as “A Mighty Fortress” and “The Prayer.” Brass and woodwind ensembles will perform several works of their own, as well as accompanying the choir on a number of titles.
Treble Singers will close the concert with several secular and popular arrangements including “When I Have Sung My Songs,” “This Old Man,” and music of the ’60s: “Lollipop,” “It’s My Party and I’ll Cry If I Want To,” “Please, Mr. Postman,” and “Baby Love.”
Treble Singers is directed by Virginia Cameron while Chamber Winds is directed by Dr. John Packard.
