WNZR Valentine's Banquet shows that "Love is a Verb"
February 12, 2011
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- WNZR, 90.9 FM, a broadcast ministry of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, presents its 13th annual Valentine's Banquet on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. in the President's Dining Room located in the Hyson Campus Center on the MVNU campus.
This year’s theme is “Love is a Verb.” Joe and Marcy Rinehart will host a time of sharing practical ideas on how to show love to others. Each guest will receive a calendar with 30 unique ways to put their love into action.
“Our staff is excited about this year’s theme,” said Station Manager Marcy Rinehart. “We have had a lot of fun coming up with unique ways to show love to others. We want our guests to leave the banquet with some ideas that they can put into practice right away. Putting love into action can help build healthy and happy relationships.”
Special music entertainment will be provided by 12-year-old pianist Timothy Noble. This sixth grader is the son of Kevin and Cynthia Noble of Mount Vernon. At the age of 3, Timothy began playing hymns on the piano. He was enrolled in the “Music for Young Children” program until formal lessons began at age 5. Timothy’s musical gift flows from his heart and is seen in his love of hymns and gospel music. With the help and direction of his piano instructor, Glee Smith of Mount Vernon, Timothy is completing his own piano arrangements.
Timothy has played with some gifted pianists including Dino Kartsonakis, Jeff Stice, Michael Howard and Kim Collingsworth. Timothy also had the honor of playing the opening segment of Mike Huckabee’s Faith and Freedom Tour event last fall. As a young man of just 12, he maintains a full weekly schedule of playing at churches, special events, nursing homes, camp meetings and other ministry-oriented events.
WNZR also plans to distribute over $1,000 worth of prizes throughout the evening, courtesy of local businesses. Prizes include an overnight stay at The Indian Bear Lodge Carriage House, a dozen roses, a 60-minute massage, tickets to the MVNU Women’s Auxiliary Spring Retreat, CDs, several books about love and relationships, plus a gift package from Amway.
Banquet tickets are $16 per person and include a full buffet dinner, entertainment and door prizes. The Italian meal will feature chicken parmesan, spaghetti with marinara sauce, green beans, tossed salad, antipasto salad, fruit salad, garlic bread sticks and chocolate layer cake for dessert.
Tickets are on sale now at the WNZR studios located on the second floor of Founders Hall on the MVNU campus, and at Gospel Supply Shop, 117 South Main Street, in Mount Vernon. The deadline to purchase tickets is Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m., and seating is limited. All profits from this year’s Valentine’s Banquet will go to support nine MVNU broadcasting students planning to attend the National Religious Broadcasters convention in March.
