Do I have to be covered by MVNU student health insurance if I am currently under my parents plan?
Residential students are required to carry this supplemental group insurance policy. This assures payment to local providers and no co-pay or deductible for the student to see a physician. The plan covers outpatient medical fees up to $150.00 per injury or occurrence of illness. The plan provides for partial coverage of hospital admission and surgeries (inpatient and outpatient). In the case of hospitalization, the policy may assist in paying the deductible and co-payments associated with parents? family insurance. Mental health benefits are paid at 50% to a maximum of $750.00.

Are prescription medications covered under this plan?
There is no prescription coverage provided under this plan. It is helpful to know how your parents? family prescription coverage works, so you will be prepared in the event you need to fill a prescription. The university physician, Dr. Larry Reed, MD, often has sample medications he provides to students with no prescription coverage.
