Annual gifts to MVNU are very important, they are foundation stones of our giving programs. These gifts support the university's ongoing array of initiatives.
- Undesignated Gifts
When you do not specifically indicate where funds should be applied, these gifts are termed undesignated. This type of gift allows our staff to place the funds in the most critical areas and is often an answer to prayer.
- Designated Funds
When you specifically indicate where funds should be applied, these gifts are termed designated. For example, if you wanted to support the biology departments equipment replacement fund, you would indicate such on the memo line of your check and we will honor that request. These gifts are typically under $10,000 but during a capital campaign or building project larger gifts of this nature can be used as naming opportunities.
- Scholarship Phonathon
MVNU's primary method of assisting students with financial need is through scholarships. Many of these funds come directly from the annual
Phonathon. Each February and March, student callers contact alumni, friends and supporters of MVNU to help bridge the gap between the cost
of a college education and what families can afford. The student callers enjoy interacting with our investors. We get many follow-up cards and letters complimenting the professionalism our callers and how much they enjoyed talking with students. More than one note has said, "People like my caller are the reason we choose to support
MVNU." Click here for matching gift information.
Many faculty and staff support our students by contributing to this program.
- Mission and Ministry Trips
Each year approximately 18% of MVNU students participate
in mission opportunities. Perhaps it is for a class
in January, a spring break Work & Witness type project
(can you imagine college students giving up a chance for a
warm beach to work with and for the less fortunate? - ours
do, each year) or a longer trip after graduation, MVNU
students are upholding the spirit of our school motto,
"To Seek to Serve is to Seek to Learn." Your contribution is appreciated whether you're supporting an individual or the general mission travel fund. Click here for more information on "Joining Hands," MVNU's mission and ministry organization.
- WNZR 90.9 FM is our campus radio station whose broadcasts are heard throughout Knox and surrounding counties. Manned by a professional staff and many students, WNZR has become a vital ministry of MVNU. Each March, the station sponsors their annual LIFELINE fund-raiser to help cover the cost of equipment, programming upgrades and a staff salary.
- Cougar Sports Associates (CSA) Phonathon
The funds generated by student athlete callers cover
expenses associated with each sport. Each membership in CSA
costs $30.00 with $5.00 going towards the CSA general fund
and the other $25.00 going to a specific sport. Click here for matching gift information.
