Vice President for University Relations
James oversees the departments of Alumni Relations, Marketing, Development, and Campus Events. James will serve as the interim Director of Alumni Relations until a new director is hired.
Darrel George (’08)
Assistant Vice President of Development
Darrel serves as the steward of all university development and endowment initiatives. Through collaborative efforts with the University and Alumni Relations teams, he will continue the effective cultivation of philanthropic relationships that support and accelerate the mission of MVNU. Darrel has a passion for inspiring and equipping current and future generations of vocational professionals and ambassadors for Jesus Christ.
Mike Cheek (’82)
Executive Director of Alumni and Advancement
Mike returned to MVNU in 2023 to continue the University's efforts to engage our alumni. He is building a calendar of events that will have him on the road meeting with alumni where they live and work. He wants to hear those stories and build connections and networks within our vast alumni community.
Cindy Sizemore (’74)
Director of Development
Cindy oversees MVNU’s Major Gifts program. She travels across MVNU’s Field (Ohio, West Virginia, and Eastern KY) to meet with MVNU donors and alumni. Her work helps to engage them philanthropically to enhance MVNU’s University Fund, Heritage Society, and other giving societies.
Ed Cable, CPA, CFP®
Director of Planned Giving
As Director of Planned Giving, Ed connects regularly with donors and their advisors. His passion lies in collaborating with them to craft strategic financial plans that align with their family's aspirations, their church, MVNU, and other worthy causes.
John Mohnasky (’17)
Assistant Director of Development
John assists the Assistant VP for Development with reporting and data management, endowments and annual giving. He is responsible for the overall endowment awarding process and works with accounting to ensure up to date record keeping of all endowed scholarships. Additionally, he assists marketing with reporting and content.
Heather Hoag (’98)
Assistant Director for Alumni Relations
Heather assists the Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Advancement with office organization and administrative responsibilities. She is instrumental in the maintenance of alumni records, assists with the coordination of Homecoming and other alumni events, and collaborates with Marketing in the production of various alumni mailings.
Gift Receipts and Records Coordinator
Esther diligently ensures that every gift is processed, recorded, and receipted properly. She works closely with development staff and Accounting to properly document the philanthropic support of all MVNU constituencies.
Alumni & Church Relations Assistant
Diana connects with Alumni, Churches and Donors to ensure that they know they are valued by MVNU. She assists in gathering and updating contact information so our office can stay connected. She also takes part in events facilitated by Traditional Admissions, Alumni Relations, and Development.
University Relations Coordinator
Kristy supports the University Development efforts through management of donor stewardship, organizing donor-related events, and administrative support for the University Relations team.
Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for University Relations
Livie supports the University Relations office by providing an excellence in quality of support to the Vice President for University Relations. She handles a variety of administrative tasks for the department and Senior Leaders.
Sarah Scott (’01)
Campus Events & Community Relations Manager
Sarah facilitates the use of our campus venues for external organizations. She serves as a liaison between MVNU, the Nazarene communities, the wider Mount Vernon/Knox County area, and various groups across Ohio, making meaningful connections every step of the way. With over 12 years of experience in grant writing and new program development, Stephanie has made significant contributions to both the business and education sectors. Her expertise will increase MVNU's ability to earn grant awards to enhance student experience and the University mission.
