Moms can enjoy a FREE night out with WNZR
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — WNZR 90.9 FM, a broadcast ministry of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, presents its 14th annual “Mom’s Night Out” on Friday, May 11. This free event celebrates mothers with a night of fun, a movie and prizes. It will be held in Foster Hall in Ariel Arena, located on the campus of Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event starts at 7 p.m.
WNZR’s “Mom’s Night Out” is free for all moms and will include a showing of the movie “Coffee Shop.” “Coffee Shop” is a romantic drama that follows a young coffee shop owner who is threatened with repossession. She must take a chance with life and love as she fights to save her business.
“Coffee Shop” is the story of Donavan Turner, a smart, independent, twenty-something woman looking for just the right blend of happiness in her life. She owns a hip, neighborhood coffee shop in a quaint, scenic beach town and her specialty is matching people to their perfect, new brew. While she’s been less than successful fixing her love life, Donavan enjoys her work and has the robust support of her sister Becky, Becky’s boyfriend Kevin, and the wonderful, eclectic family of her coffee shop regulars.
Unfortunately, she’s keeping a secret from them all. The new bank owner, Frank Miller, won’t extend her loan and she’s facing immediate foreclosure. Things get further complicated when Donovan’s ex-boyfriend Patrick returns to declare his love just as her clashes with Broadway playwright — and tea-drinker — Ben Carson get interesting. Ben is in town writing his new play for his producer. With love and financial ruin bubbling around her, Donavan realizes that her identity and self-worth are not defined by what she can accomplish alone. Instead, Donavan — and her community — can accomplish more together, which leads her to make choices she may not have before.
There is an all-star cast in this romantic drama including Laura Vandervoort (from “Supergirl” and “Smallville”) Cory M. Grant (from “All My Children” and “Nashville”), Josh Ventura (from “All Eyez on Me”, “Queen Sugar”, and “Megan Leavey”), Jon Lovitz (from “Happiness”, “A League of Their Own”, and “Loaded Weapon”), and Kevin Sorbo (from “Hercules” and “God’s Not Dead”).
WNZR plans to distribute more than $1,000 worth of prizes throughout the evening, courtesy of different local businesses, organizations, and vendors. A complete list of prizes and “Mom’s Night Out” sponsors is available on the station’s website wnzr.fm.
Tickets to the event are free but seating is limited. Tickets are available at WNZR, located on the second floor of Founders Hall at MVNU, or at the door on Friday, May 11.
