Community & Service Ministry Opportunities (CoSMO)

MVNU's many Community and Service Ministry Opportunities (CoSMO) groups encourage students to engage in service in the local and surrounding communities and discover their passion and ways they can give back.

CoSMO groups are student led, and student initiated. We live in a community with a lot of needs & these groups were created over the years to address the various needs or Knox and surrounding counties.

Below are the groups for the current academic year. Please note these groups will be modified in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions.

“I am so thankful for the friendships I've made and for the transformation God has made in me.”

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”

FaithWorks is designed to connect the content of the classroom with real-world need in focused and significant ways. We have opportunities for our students to make a mark on the world and in their community through local and global service opportunities. These opportunities focus on compassionate responses to poverty and suffering in our world.

As a campus, we raise awareness and funds for "the least of these" through our passions, talents, and hobbies.  We invite you to join us and invest in the work we do in our town, county and around the world. Give today. We believe that service is an integral part of our spiritual life. This program exists as a reminder that just as faith is a vital part of our identity as a believer, serving others should be deeply rooted in who we are as well.

Partnering with FaithWorks can look like a lot of different things. Maybe you are traveling to Guyana to build a community center in a rural village, or maybe you are sponsoring a child for one year of education in Belize, or maybe it looks like being a pen pal with an elderly person in our local nursing homes. Serving doesn’t always look the same but we would encourage you to put your faith to work. Ask yourself what mark you are making and if you aren’t making one... you should start!
