MVNU bringing Andrew White to campus for recital, masterclass

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Music Department is pleased to Andrew R. White, BM, MM, AD, DMA, as part of the MVNU Fall Lecture Artist series. He will present a vocal recital featuring Franz Schubert’s Wintereisse on Friday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m., in Thorne Performance Hall located in the R.R. Hodges Chapel & Fine Arts Center. Dr. White will also present a masterclass for students during his time on MVNU’s campus. These events are free and open to the public.
He teaches private voice, as well as classes in diction and vocal literature at the University of Nebraska Kearney at the rank of professor. His experience includes a wide variety of stage performances from opera to musical theater. As an advocate of contemporary music, White has performed new works in Boston, Cleveland, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, San Antonio, Vancouver and elsewhere. He made his New York debut in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in a program of songs by composer Frederick Koch.
Dr. White has published articles in Voice and Speech Review, Classical Singer, and American Music Teacher. He has also given presentations and performances at several regional and national conferences for music organizations.
This event is partially funded by the Arts, Lecture and Programs Committee, which offers a grant program to provide supplemental resources to departments, schools, and campus organizations to expose MVNU students to individuals who have expertise and life experiences that would not otherwise be available on campus.
