A residential program for students with intellectual disabilities seeking an integrated college experience that prepares them for future employment.
Enrolling for Fall 2024
Throughout the two year, four semester residential program, students will participate in a blended academic model that weaves at least two inclusive college courses per semester and IGNITE program courses into the student's schedule. At the successful completion of the program, students will earn a Certificate of Applied Studies.
Program courses developed for IGNITE students are focused on employment, independent living, and self determination.
Through Person-Centered Planning meetings, students choose a career pathway based on their post-school goals. These courses align with a student's chosen career path.
What's unique about Pathway Courses?
- They are taken with MVNU undergraduate students.
- Students will have an IGNITE Learning Partner in their class for support.
- Students will have an opportunity to earn an industry credential while attending MVNU.
- Students earn program credit for completing Pathway courses.
Career Development and Employment
Through the Person-Centered Planning process, students will be able to identify their personal career goals which will determine job shadowing and internship opportunities.
Students participate in job shadowing and internship preparation.
Students will work in a new internship each semester. These opportunities can be on- or off-campus, paid or unpaid. A job mentor will be assigned to work one-on-one with students in their internships.
