MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University has announced a pathway to graduation for students attending Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio, which recently announced its closure at the end of the spring semester.
The offer will provide students in good standing a seamless transition to transfer all credits to MVNU and establish the quickest path to graduation in the same or comparable major.
“We are saddened to hear of the upcoming closure of Notre Dame College. We know this is disheartening news and will leave many students looking for a new home next year. We are here to help these students and their families as the navigate the road ahead,” said Johnna Vanover, Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing.
In addition to streamlined acceptance process, MVNU will review each student’s current financial aid package and work with them to develop a similar cost package. Students will be provided academic advising and support to aid in the transition to MVNU.
Typically, transfer students must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours at MVNU for a degree. However, under these circumstances, the university will waive the residency requirement for Notre Dame students who need fewer than 30 credit hours to graduate, allowing them to earn their degree on time and without additional costs.
The university has welcomed students in similar situations in the past, including students from Urbana University, Cincinnati Christian University and Ohio Valley University.
“We opened our doors to students from these institutions that were closing and helped them complete a degree. We will do the same for Notre Dame College students, servicing them to an earned degree,” said Mel Severns, University Registrar.
MVNU offers robust spiritual life and campus life experiences including corporate worship, small groups, Community Service and Ministry Opportunities (CSMO), 13 men’s and women’s varsity sports, junior varsity, club sports and numerous organizations and activities.
Notre Dame College students interested in transferring to MVNU can submit their transcripts to registrar@mvnu.edu for evaluation to start the process to determine the quickest pathway to graduation. They can also apply for free at https://mvnu.edu/apply-transfer using the code NOTREDAME.
