MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University has announced the first artists for SonFest 2026, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, on the MVNU campus. The festival runs from noon to 10 p.m.

Now in its 30th year, the annual Christian music festival will feature performances on the indoor main stage in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium and an outdoor second stage. Chris Renzema and Rock City Worship are the first artists confirmed for the event, with additional performers to be announced in the coming months.

Renzema has emerged as one of Christian music’s most compelling singer-songwriters, known for his honest lyrics, thoughtful storytelling and worshipful approach to music. Since releasing his debut album in 2018, Renzema has connected with audiences through songs such as “God Is,” “How to Be Yours” and “Just As Good.” His music blends vulnerability and faith, encouraging listeners to encounter God in both life’s joys and challenges.

Rock City Worship brings a complementary congregational energy to the lineup. The worship ministry of Rock City Church in Columbus, Ohio, the collective has gained a national following through songs such as “Good Plans,” “I Will Look Up” and “More Than Enough.” Known for creating music that serves the local church, their music emphasizes the hope of the gospel and encourages believers to live boldly in their faith.

Tickets are on sale now and start at $35. Groups of 10 or more are eligible for a $5 discount per ticket. Tickets and additional event information are available at mvnu.edu/sonfest.

New this year, and for the first time in the festival’s 30-year history, attendees will be able to select their seats at the time of purchase. The indoor main-stage venue will feature reserved seating with tiered pricing based on seat location, providing guests with additional options to customize their concert experience.

In addition to live music, SonFest will feature food trucks, inflatables, yard games and a vendor tent. Outdoor attractions will be available throughout the day, creating a festival atmosphere for attendees of all ages.

“SonFest has been a cherished tradition for Christian music fans and families throughout the region for 30 years, and we are excited to keep building on that legacy,” said Ben Slater, assistant director of admissions and festival coordinator. “The addition of reserved seating gives guests a new way to experience the event, and we look forward to sharing more artist announcements in the coming months.”

Hosted by Mount Vernon Nazarene University, SonFest brings together nationally recognized Christian artists, worship experiences and family-friendly activities for attendees from across Ohio and surrounding states.
