Dual Enrollment FAQ's
You’ll find our full course offerings here. Need to take classes online? Check out the list of available online courses. We also have CCP Pathways & Course Offerings laid out for you that will help you progress toward your college major while still meeting your high school graduation requirements.
Well, that one depends on a lot of variables. You’ll want to chat with your high school guidance counselor once you know how many classes you’ll be taking at the high school. If you’re homeschooled, email us at DualEnrollment@mvnu.edu once you’ve turned in your funding award notification letter. We can figure it out together.
Yep, you sure can. Go ahead and apply. Your high school doesn’t have to have a formal relationship with MVNU for you to join our Dual Enrollment program.
Yes! You’re still welcome to apply. You’ll have to take the Family Pay option, but we’d love to have you join us.
Any questions you have about books should be answered here, but if you have any additional questions feel free to contact us.
For the most part, Dual Enrollment students are able to enjoy the full spectrum of classes offered at MVNU. MVNU follows the general guidelines from the state of Ohio that recommends students take 15 credit hours of Level 1 coursework before moving on to more difficult classes. Students using CCP state funding are limited in some areas as to what the state will pay for (see the CCP FAQ for details). Students who choose the Family Pay option will want to consider factors such as the number of credit hours, what the associated course fees are, and the cost of textbooks/materials for each class before enrolling. In addition, students must follow the required prerequisites for the desired classes, as well as any class restrictions (e.g., age requirements, program requirements, etc.).
College Credit Plus (CCP) FAQ's
The state recommends that students request 4 credit hours for each class they plan to take for the year (summer, fall, and spring terms). This should build in a small buffer that allows for course changes or even additions, if necessary or desired.
Classes may only be paid for with one funding type. For example, if you have 1 credit hour of funding available and want to take a 3-credit hour class, you would need to pay for the entire 3 credit hours. We have a Family Pay Option for students who fall under the following circumstances:
- CCP funding does not cover the cost of the entire class.
- The class desired is not eligible under CCP guidelines.
- The student is retaking a class for grade recovery.
The CCP program places some limits on the courses you can take while using their funding:
-
- You have to take your first 15 credit hours in level-1 classes. *There are some exceptions, so you’ll want to chat with a Dual Enrollment Specialist if you’re not sure.
- You can’t take any classes with one-on-one private instruction.
- You can’t take any classes with a course fee over $750.
- You can’t take any study abroad courses.
- You can’t take any physical education courses.
- You can’t take any P/F or S/U graded courses (unless the course is an internship or a transferable course with the same grading scale for all students enrolled).
- You can’t take any remedial courses.
- You can’t take any sectarian or religion courses.
Yep, you sure can. Go ahead and apply. Your high school doesn’t have to have a formal relationship with MVNU for you to join our Dual Enrollment program.
Our Dual Enrollment staff works with each department to understand the requirements and progression of degrees. As a result, meeting with them allows you to customize a path toward your educational goals and limits the need for schedule changes. Our advising sessions also include valuable information about the entire MVNU Dual Enrollment experience and expectations.
All new students must schedule an advising appointment (except those students taking classes within a partner high school). Advising appointments are encouraged and available for returning students.
