MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Judy Gregg as Dean of the newly-formed College of Arts and Sciences, effective immediately. This appointment is a key part of MVNU’s strategic academic restructuring designed to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and enhance student success and underscores the university’s commitment to academic excellence and Christ-centered learning.

Dr. Gregg, a long-time MVNU faculty member and academic leader, most recently served as Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. With over a decade of dedicated service at MVNU and a career spanning hospital administration, higher education, and public health advocacy, she brings a wealth of experience and a visionary leadership style to this new role.

“We are incredibly blessed to announce that Dr. Judy Gregg has accepted the role of Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences at Mount Vernon Nazarene University,” said MVNU President Dr. Carson Castleman. “Dr. Gregg has been an outstanding leader on our campus for many years and exemplifies what it means to be a consummate professional with a genuine heart for students. Her unwavering support for all things MVNU is evident, as she consistently attends events to cheer everyone on and uplift our community.”

As Dean, Dr. Gregg will provide strategic, academic, and administrative oversight for all undergraduate programs within the College of Arts and Sciences. Her responsibilities include faculty development, curriculum planning, assessment, accreditation, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across the university. She will also work closely with Enrollment and Marketing to support student recruitment and retention efforts, and coordinate initiatives that align with MVNU’s mission and values.

“I’m honored to serve as Dean of the newly restructured College of Arts and Sciences. The transition to the new college structure marks a significant step forward for MVNU, creating new opportunities for collaboration and innovation across disciplines,” said Dr. Gregg. “In the spirit of our mission, “to seek to learn is to seek to serve”, I look forward to supporting a community where academic excellence and purposeful service go hand-in-hand.”

Dr. Gregg holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Carlow University, where she received the Anne Denardo McGowan DNP Leadership Award. She also holds graduate and undergraduate nursing degrees from Indiana Wesleyan University and Excelsior College in addition to a diploma from Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing.

In addition to her extensive teaching and administrative work, Dr. Gregg has served on numerous committees, led global service-learning courses, and is active in community service as a board member for Knox Community Hospital, the Knox County Hospital Foundation and the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Licking and Knox Counties.

“As an empathic leader, Dr. Gregg is committed to doing what is right and advancing the University’s mission,” added Dr. Castleman. “Beyond her role as an academic leader, she is also a prominent figure in the community and her local church. With her exceptional disposition, strong educational background, and relentless drive, Dr. Gregg is poised to elevate the College of Arts and Sciences to new heights. We are excited to have her at the helm, guiding our students and faculty toward a bright future.”

While the university’s current school-based structure remains in place through June 30, Dr. Gregg begins her new role immediately to support a smooth transition and ensure continuity in decision-making and strategic planning.
