MVNU faculty to host voice recital
Mount Vernon Nazarene University will present Dr. Cynthia Mahaney, soprano, in a faculty voice recital on Sunday, October 26, at 3 p.m. The concert will take place in Thorne Performance Hall in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Building and the community is invited to attend this free event.

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University will present Dr. Cynthia Mahaney, soprano, in a faculty voice recital on Sunday, October 26, at 3 p.m. The concert will take place in Thorne Performance Hall in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Building and the community is invited to attend this free event.
Her program titled “Sing Me To Heaven” will showcase music commemorating All Saints’ Day. Selections will include songs by Gabriel FaurĂ©, Stefano Donaudy, Richard Strauss, John Ness Beck, and George Gershwin. The recital will also feature a duet with Dr. Rebecca Abbott, mezzo-soprano. Mrs. Charla Dryburgh will accompany on piano.
Dr. Mahaney is coordinator of the voice area and is an adjunct faculty member for private voice and voice class at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She also teaches voice at Kenyon College; violin, viola, piano and voice at Music & Arts in Columbus; and voice, violin and piano with Piano Lessons in Your Home. She is also an active adjudicator.
Cynthia has extensive performing experience as well. Her solo performances include roles with Opera Columbus, Opera Project Columbus, Saint Joseph Cathedral, and opera companies in the Chicago area and the AIMS Program in Graz, Austria. She is also a member of the viola section of the Knox County Symphony.
