Elementary Education & Intervention (P-5) Program Highlights
At Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Elementary Education & Intervention (P-5) students gain extensive classroom experience beginning as early as their freshman year. Through field placements, observation hours, labs, and student teaching opportunities, you’ll build practical teaching skills in real elementary and intervention classrooms. The program is designed to help you develop confidence in lesson planning, classroom management, literacy instruction, inclusive teaching practices, and working with diverse learners while making valuable connections with local schools and educators.
Faith is woven throughout the Elementary Education & Intervention program at MVNU. Classes encourage students to approach teaching through a Christ-centered perspective by incorporating prayer, Scripture, compassion, and ethical leadership into everyday learning. As you prepare to serve children and families, you’ll be challenged to view education as both a profession and a calling — developing the character, empathy, and servant leadership needed to make a meaningful impact in the classroom and beyond.
Our travel and study-afar programs let you grow in your faith while experiencing new cultures. Through serving in communities across the U.S. or abroad, you’ll deepen your compassion, explore your callings, and gain meaningful experience for your résumé.
