Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creative Work

SURC 2024

Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 6 p.m.

What Is It?

Mount Vernon Nazarene University is pleased to announce the annual Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creative Work (sURC) takes place during Spring Semester in the Jetter building. The symposium features MVNU students who will present their research or creative work to the campus community in a conference-style event. These brief sessions allow students to articulate their goals and results as well as take questions from the audience. Refreshments will be served.

What Do We Need From You?

Consider work that you have completed or tasks in which you have engaged that showcase your learning at MVNU. Select a project, paper, field experience, or creative work around which you can develop a 15-minute presentation. You will field questions from the audience for five minutes at the conclusion of your presentation.

What Is The Benefit To You?

Presenting your work in a scholarly setting is an excellent practice to prepare you for future work within your discipline. It is also an excellent addition to resumes and will demonstrate your leadership skills and dedication to your profession to potential employers. This experience will also allow you to be a leader in your department, sharing work with other students who are still rising in the program.

What Are The Deadlines

Applications will open in March 2025.

If you have questions, please email Rebekah Bennett, and/or direct questions to a faculty member within your department.
