Dr. Nicholas-Edwards leads MVNU’s global learning strategy — cultivating transformative partnerships, intercultural learning experiences, and service opportunities that connect the university community to the world. She holds a Ph.D. in International Social Work with concentrations in Social Development and Research from The Ohio State University. Her work as an educator and research-practitioner spans government, nonprofit, and academic sectors across the globe, integrating scholarship, practice, and global mission. A Fulbright Fellow to Romania and recipient of MVNU’s President’s Awards for Faculty Member of the Year and for Excellence in Teaching, Dr. Nicholas-Edwards is passionate about equipping students to engage the world with wisdom, compassion, and purpose — challenging them to pursue excellence as they translate their learning into meaningful service and leadership.

Professor Armstrong brings a rich background in international education, public service, and global engagement. With experience across government, nonprofit, academic, and private sectors — including the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Census Bureau, ICF, and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association — she’s dedicated to fostering intercultural understanding and helping students grow into globally minded citizens. Recognized with multiple honors for her public service, Professor Armstrong has also contributed to global education initiatives and academic publications, all reflecting her passion for connecting people and ideas across cultures.
