Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews and approves all research involving human subjects conducted by MVNU faculty, staff, and students. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) requires all federally funded colleges and universities to have IRBs in order to protect the human subjects of research and to ensure that the university's researchers are complying with the relevant federal regulations and ethical guidelines outlined by the Office for Human Research Protections(opens in new tab).

All MVNU IRB resources and communications are facilitated through the MVNU Teams account, which can be accessed via webpage or desktop app. Please navigate to our MVNU IRB Hub in Microsoft Teams, where you will be able to:

  • learn about human subjects research and the MVNU IRB application process;
  • access all IRB related resources, including ethics training, application form, information guides, and templates/samples to help you plan your research study;
  • ask an IRB related question;
  • initiate an IRB application review process;
  • communicate about IRB approved projects that are in process.

If you are an external researcher interested in conducting research at MVNU, please email Institutional.ReviewBoard@mvnu.edu.
