Academics
CSS Mission Statement
The Center for Student Success (CSS) exists to equip students for independent, effective, and life-long learning through programs and services tailored to assist them in achieving their personal and educational goals.
Our Services
ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING
Our tutors are student employees who have been trained to help you master course content and fine-tune your studying skills.
Traditional students can access tutoring here.
SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION
The SI Leaders are student employees who lead weekly group study sessions outside of class on topics covered in class during the week. Supplemental Instruction Leaders have successfully completed the class for which they lead SI, take notes, and model exemplary student practices. The Center for Student Success offers SI for many courses in the General Education Core.
You can find a complete list of courses that offer SI and their meeting times here
ACADEMIC PEER MENTOR PROGRAM (APM)
Our Academic Peer Mentors (APM) are upper-level student employees trained to help new MVNU students transition into college life. If you work with an APM, they’ll meet with you weekly to provide academic assistance and accountability. They can also help with time management, organization, study strategies, and other forms of personal or academic accountability and support.
Interested in meeting with an APM? Send us an email: student.success@mvnu.edu or sign up here.

Also, these courses are required for you if you’ve been conditionally admitted to the university and are likely to benefit from additional support and preparation for college-level academic work.
