Admissions
Esports
Our Esports team has been building a reputation for quality play and leadership since its inception in the Fall 2019. The very successful team has transitioned from the Athletics Department to Club Sports and Arts to better align with the spirit of competitive sport but remains intact with its varsity-level benefits. It remains funded at the varsity level, has a full-time coach, and can offer scholarships at a competitive level.

Head Esports Coach
Kyler Curtis became the Head Esports Coach at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in the fall of 2021. From MVNU's graduating class of 2015, Kyler graduated with a degree in Pastoral Ministry and earned two master's degrees in Ministry and Business Admin in the summer of 2021. Kyler is thankful to return to his alma mater and grow the esports program.
While living in Ohio, Kyler began working as an events coordinator for a brand new esports organization called Game Arena. This involved Kyler in various esports communities, developing a deep understanding of their inner functions and shared culture. Kyler also has a background in competing in Super Smash Bros., earning a Top 50 global ranking in 2016 and 2017. With the rise in esports popularity, Kyler is thankful to have been involved in the "early days" of its development and looks forward to actively contributing to its growth at MVNU.
Kyler returned to his home state of Maryland and began serving as a youth and worship pastor in 2019. With a ministry-focused mentality, Kyler sees the esports program as another medium to aid in the spiritual development that takes place on campus at MVNU. Currently, Kyler is also serving as a part-time worship pastor at Together Ministries Church of the Nazarene.
