Student Services

The Test Center serves individual students by administering several types of examinations. Contact the Test Center to get additional information and schedule appointments.

Tests Administered

Make-up examinations necessitated by class absences when requested and authorized by the instructor of the course. The student must make arrangements to have the instructor provide the testing materials to the Test Center in advance of the make-up examinations.
General education and end-of-program assessments. If the student missed the general education core testing (junior test) or end-of-program testing in the major (senior test), the assessments may be scheduled by appointment in the Test Center
Diagnostic, placement, or proficiency tests for business, chemistry, mathematics, nursing, psychology, religion, social work, or Spanish may be taken through the Test Center.
CLEP tests must be registered and paid for at the Collegeboard website. Both are computer-based and scores are available immediately following the testing. Please refer to the university catalog for details on tests available, fees, and credit awarded. There is an administration fee, test fee, and transcription fee for these two examinations. To make an appointment, please call the Test Center (740.397.9000, ext. 4230).
Residual ACT testing is available each spring and summer. To be eligible to take the R-ACT, a student must be enrolled, admitted or have applied to the University and been unable to take the ACT on a regularly scheduled national test date because of deadlines. These R-ACT scores are only valid at MVNU and will not be sent to any other university. Score results are generally available within 2 days following testing by contacting the Admissions Office.
Online or correspondence course examinations for students enrolled in distance education programs from other universities. Prior authorization is required to ensure the Test Center will be approved to administer the examination. For non-MVNU students there will be an administration fee. Students may need to provide the appropriate information for the distance learning university.
Pearson VUE Tests administered at the Test Center include the Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) and National Evaluation Series (NES) tests for the teacher education program. General Educational Development (GED) testing is also provided by the Test Center. Register for these Pearson VUE tests online by the respective websites. The Test Center does not register candidates for these assessment instruments.
